Structured Cabling Engineer

ODIN Recruitment ate currently looking to speak with Telecommunications engineers for a permanent role based in Bristol.

The role will include – To carry out the day to day moves, provisions and changes to existing copper and fibre optic cabling infrastructure.

Upgrade of existing Telecommunication infrastructure within Site Exchange and Remote Buildings

Installation of UPVC and steel containment as directed by the line management.

Key Skills and Requirements

Preferred/Desirable skills

• Past knowledge of telecoms networks, repair, and provision
• Telecoms colour codes past and present including multi pair cables
• Fault finding and using testing equipment
• Knowledge of the underground network, jointing cables, and closures /joints
• Experience in the installation of containment systems (both Steel and PVC)
• Ability to work as part of a close team to high standards of workmanship
• Working to agreed drawings
• Good leadership qualities
• Good communications skills
• Willingness for continuous improvement
• Able to work as part of a project team Working in customer facing environment

Advantageous

• Experience of terminating fibre optic cables (cold cure and splicing)
• Experience of terminating copper cabling (Category 5e, category 6 etc)
• Experience of Testing both Fibre optic and copper cables using Fluke Vetriv Testers
• Good knowledge of current installation practices
• Knowledge of OTDR testing would be an advantage
• CSCS/ ECS card essential
